Our Programs
At South Shuswap Early Learning Center, we strive to provide excellent childcare services with an age-appropriate curriculum for each program. Our knowledgeable staff members all hold Early Childhood Educator certificates, childcare first aid, and have years of combined experience in the field. They collectively spend many hours each month curriculum planning developmentally appropriate activities for their programs (and your children!)
Infants/Toddlers
Our I/T program is designed to enhance the explorer in your already naturally curious child! Our days are spent discovering our world, interacting with our peers, and building bonds with our educators. We explore music and sounds, and learn basic sign language skills.
The children learn basic rhythm, turn taking, and modelling. We also explore art by coloring and painting! In the I/T program, we encourage independence, so we ask that you please send easy on/off shoes, finger foods for lunch, and comfortable clothes for exploration!
In addition to fun and exploration, your child enjoys all the other aspects of our program; nurturing educators, learning through our developmentally appropriate curriculum, physical activity, good nutrition, and both free and structured play, indoors
and on field trips around our community.
The 3-5s also explore art, music, and sounds during Circle Time and a fun game; a daily craft or art project is always an exciting part as well!
Our School Age Program, run by Izzy herself, accepts children in the mornings before school, as well as in the afternoons. We provide School Bus Drop-Off in the morning, and Pick up from the bus in the afternoon. The Den has a very relaxed atmosphere; we like to play board games & card games, finish exciting jigsaw puzzles, design and color cool pictures, as well as enjoy arts & crafts and fun science experiments! We try to be outside as much as possible, where we explore Nature, and do other
fun Science Experiments that are just too messy to enjoy inside!!
Friday/Fun-day is our Movie & Electronic Day, where children are allowed to bring an electronic from home; we will also play a movie on our Projector screen!
The Den is open every school day, and every day that school is not in session, including Pro-D Days & Summer Holidays! On these full days, we like to plan Field Trips as much as possible! Everyone's favorite!
